Moissanite Diamonds

Moissanite diamond is a lab created diamond, having similar properties like natural diamond. It looks similar like diamond. It is difficult to find the difference between moissanite and diamond from naked eye. The hardness of moissanite is 9.25 to 9.50. Moissanite is a useful stone for replacing diamond in jewelries. Moissanite diamond was discovered in 1893 by henry moissan who was a French scientist. It is made from silicon carbide.

Moissanite is the best substitute of diamond even it is very affordable.  Diamond reflects white sparkle, moissanite reflects rainbow sparkle. Moissanite diamond is easily available, and can be afforded by everyone. The Colour of moissanite never fades, if sparkle lifetime. There are many types of moissanite or you can say different qualities. There are many different clarity, colours and cuts in moissanite. Qualities of types of moissanite diamond:

Colour: Moissanite has many different shades, and colours. The shading of stone is known as grade. Basically, it is divided into three parts that are colourless, slightly colourless and yellow tinted. Grade used for colourless stone is D, E, F. Grade for slightly colour is G, H, I and grade used for yellow tinted stone J and K.

Clarity: Nothing is perfect in this world. Natural diamonds have inclusions and lab created diamonds have imperfections. But the imperfections of moissanite are very minor, and can’t be seen normally. They are represented as Fl or IF, VVS1 or VVS2, VS1 or VS2, S1 or S2, I1, I2, I3.

Cut: Cut grade means how properly stone is cut. Cut of a stone defines how properly light can travel. Light can easily travel which increases the shine of stone. Poorly cut light can’t travel easily and doesn’t shine properly.

Durability: Diamonds are the hardest stone, it has the hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale. Moissanite is also a hard stone; it has the hardness of 9.25 on mohs scale. It is little less than diamond hardness, but good for making jewellery.

Life of a stone: Diamonds are durable stones that are good for wearing for a lifetime, moissanite is lab created stone but its shine and lustre is permanent, its colour and shine never fades. Any chemical wash can affect it.
